Polygon Zero has accused Matter Labs of copying a significant amount of code from its Plonky2 library to zkSync, a rival Ethereum layer-2 scaling solution. The allegedly plagiarized code was found in Matter Labs’ proving system called Boojum, which is powered by zero-knowledge technology. Polygon Zero claims that the code was included without proper attribution to the original authors and that Boojum is extremely similar to Plonky2’s library. Matter Labs has marketed Boojum as being 10 times faster than Plonky2, which Polygon Zero questions given the copied code. This is not the first time plagiarism accusations have emerged in the crypto community.
